Baby pictures - Azalea seedlings

Last winter I acquired a lot of seeds for eastern US native azaleas. I had to join 3 different azalea and native plant societies so I could buy from their members-only exchanges. It's tricky getting them started. You have to sow them on the surface of finely milled sphagnum moss, grow under lights, fight off fungal infections and eventually transplant the babies. The ones that survived I potted up and moved to the basement for the winter. They are growing like gangbusters. In May I'll move them to a protected spot under the apple tree for the summer.

  1. Greatings from Argentina. I have sow seeds from azalea mollis in December and the seedlings I have right now are very small, may be 4-5 times smaller than yours in pictures!!!!
Seeds were sow them in a peat and perlite mixture, in plastics flats, the salad like ones and they are under 14-15 hs of red and blue LED lights. Idon´t understand why there´s so big difference in size!!! Some seedlings shows 2-3 pair of real leaves, whilo others still have their cotyledons. They are all together in flat.
Any advice you want to share? Thanks a lot
